About Me

This is the story of me.

I was born a number of years ago. I grew up. Now I am taking TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Courses.

I suppose I should elaborate a little.

I grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. To be more precise, part of my childhood was spent in the city and part of my childhood was spent on a farm just outside the city. So I have never been completely a city slicker (granted Saskatoon is a very small city) who has never seen a farm animal or a country hick who has never seen the city. (Please do not take offense). I kind of had the best or the worst of both worlds.

Growing up, I wanted to be a policeman or fireman until I learned about Archaeology and History. I think I watched too much Indiana Jones! Although I was interested in Archaeology, I decided to study Theology first. I got a Bachelor of Theology and then I got married and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

In Winnipeg, I got the opportunity to study Archaeology and putting my love for the Bible, and Archaeology together, I was able to travel and see many of the places described in the Bible.

Pyramids of Gaza, Egypt
Dome of the Rock, Jerusalem

Petra, Jordan
Me surveying an archaeological site.

Then I got very sick with cancer - chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. I received treatment and have temporarily beat cancer, but I never fully recovered. I have been left weak, immuno-compromised, and dependent on medication. This has meant that I am unable to carry out archaeological excavation in other countries. Now due to this COVID-19 pandemic, I am also unable to get a job as any job would expose me to the dangers of this virus.

This leaves me once again preparing for a potential career change. As I have always enjoyed teaching and have been intrigued by language, I thought that learning to teach English as a Second Language might be an interesting career choice.

This blog will chronicle my experiences in the TESL courses, what I have learned and how I have grown.
